- Reaper Q&AsIn Questions & AnswersMay 5, 2024I don't have any tips in particular but I do highly recommend Reaper. I learned to modify and use it last year (was using audacity before) using the tutorial videos on the Booth Junkie YouTube channel and I have never looked back, such a powerful and useful DAW once you get the hang of it. One thing I do recommend is that if you use a mouse with extra buttons (mine has a back and forward button on it) map shortcuts to those buttons. My back button is used to clip out selections of audio and the forward button I use as the split function. Really helps streamline the editing process and allows me to edit with one hand while drinking coffee with the other.11

- PFH rate with no post productionIn Questions & AnswersAugust 17, 2023Super weird! I usually charge $200 on ACX (free health care in the UK makes me feel like thats fair?), but I'm just now entering the world of working with publishers who handle all the post production (woohoo!) and when someone asked my rate I wasn't sure what to say. Even on roster forms for some production platforms (like Audiobook Empire) they ask your standard rate and your rate with no post. So that got me thinking... do I charge the same amount even though I'm doing half the work that I normally put into a project? I was a bit stumped! It does seem though that most narrators charge the same amount regardless of post. 🤷🏻♀️ Thank you for your insight Kevin!2

- PFH rate with no post productionIn Questions & AnswersAugust 17, 2023Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh defo change your rate for post or no post! That is HOURS of work! I would say consider $250 for your full production rate on ACX, if we work together to keep the base pay to SAG standard, it helps everyone! Even if you have the NHS in the UK, you are worth that rate! If I am only narrating Punch and Roll files - $190 to $250 pfh If I am narrating and proofing and editing and mastering! DEFO - $300 pfh. (I out source all that so I can focus on narrating, so I pay my lovely Post-Production chappy $75 pfh, that leaves me $225 for the narration). If someone asked me for my narration only rate I would say $225 pfh, but I would say that I might be flexible depending on the project. I tend to find though that publishers will include the PFH in the audition breakdown, and tend to be grumpy if you negotiate after getting the offer. Better to say as you send in the audition if you would prefer a pay bump. YAY!! Congrats on starting to work with publishers! That is so exciting!!! Kev32
